BTC Map Helps You Find Merchants That Accept Bitcoin

Mary Imasuen

BTC Map is a free, open-source, community-maintained map that helps you find businesses and services that accept Bitcoin worldwide.

Think of it like Google Maps, but filtered specifically for Bitcoin-friendly merchants.

As of the time of writing, BTC Map listed over 25,000 Bitcoin-accepting locations across the globe.

For these reasons and many more, we’re proud to say that BTC Map is now a Fedi Mini App.

Who Might Use BTC Map?

BTC Map is great for anyone looking to spend their bitcoin for goods and services.

It’s also great for Bitcoin educators, as it helps show those new to Bitcoin and that you can spend bitcoin in the real world. And then those learning about Bitcoin get to practice using it when they spend it at the businesses listed on BTC Map.

Plus, newly onboarded merchants benefit from the visibility their businesses get from being listed on BTC Map. And when people spend bitcoin at their businesses, it increases business-owners’ conviction that bitcoin is real and that it works.

How to Access the BTC Map Mini App on Fedi

BTC Map is usually listed as a default Mini App on Fedi.

How to Find a Merchant that Accepts Bitcoin on BTC Map

Step 1: Open BTC Map Mini App on Fedi. The map will load centered on your current location (you may need to allow location access).

Step 2: Navigate to the coloured pins. Green pins indicate recently verified merchants, while yellow mean the listing hasn't been checked in a while.

BONUS: How to be Listed as a Merchant on BTC Map

If you’re a Fedi user who also happens to be a business owner, you might consider listing your business on BTC Map.

As a merchant, BTC Map can help put your business in front of customers who are actively looking for where to spend their bitcoin.

Here’s how to list your business on BTC Map:

Step 1: Open BTC Map on Fedi and tap on “Add location”. Make sure to search for your business name first to check if it was already listed.
