On-chain
A transaction recorded directly on the base layer of the Bitcoin blockchain and confirmed by miners, as opposed to off-chain transactions on layers like Lightning or ecash. On-chain transactions are final and secured by the full network, but they’re slower and usually cost more in fees than off-chain payments.
