Storing Bitcoin private keys entirely offline to mitigate the risk of their being affected by online hacks or malware. A hardware wallet (e.g., Trezor Safe 3) or an air-gapped computer is a form of cold storage, and this type of storage is generally used for long-term savings, not everyday spending.
