CitrusRate: Check the Bitcoin Price in Your Local African Currency
CitrusRate is a real-time bitcoin price tracker built specifically for Africa, and you can now use it as a Fedi Mini App.
When most people talk about the bitcoin price, they're talking about the value in the US dollar. For the majority of Africa's 1.4 billion people, that number is not immediately relatable.
To understand what Bitcoin is really worth in their lives, they need to translate it into the local currency they’re familiar with.
What is CitrusRate?
CitrusRate is a bitcoin price tool designed with African users in mind. It was intended for educational purposes to help people across Africa understand what bitcoin is worth in the currencies they actually use every day.
They currently aggregate bitcoin price data from local exchanges across 18 African countries.
The currencies CitrusRate covers include:
Nigerian naira (NGN)
Ghanaian cedi (GH₵)
Kenyan shilling (KSh)
Egyptian pound (£)
Tanzanian shilling (TSh)
Rwandan franc (R₣)
Ugandan shilling (USh)
Seychellois rupee (SR)
Moroccan dirham (MAD)
West and Central African CFA franc (CFA)
Exchange rates between African currencies and the dollar vary. Local bitcoin markets have their own dynamics. The price you see on a global tracker may not reflect what's actually available to you when you go to buy or sell.
CitrusRate shows you the bitcoin price as it exists in Africa aggregated from the exchanges that serve the market. And CitrusRate is available as a Mini App inside the Fedi app.
How to Add CitrusRate as a Mini App on Fedi
Step 1: Tap the "Mini Apps" button toward the bottom right of the Fedi screen.

Step 2: Tap the plus sign (+) toward the top right, then tap "Add from Catalog."

Step 3: Search for "CitrusRate" and tap "Add."

CitrusRate now appears as one of your personal Mini Apps.

Once you've added CitrusRate, open it from your Mini Apps screen. You'll see a live table displaying the current bitcoin price in all 18 supported African currencies.
Each country is represented by its respective flag, currency symbol, and the time the price was last updated.
