Based in Ghana, Bitcoin Dua’s mission is a powerful one: “empowering youth with Bitcoin education for financial independence.”

Fedi recently supported Bitcoin Dua’s participation in the BTC Classics basketball tournament, part of The Bitcoin Classic (TBC) Africa Tour in Accra. Bringing together athletes, coaches, vendors, students, and spectators, the event provided an ideal platform for real-world Bitcoin adoption.

As a circular Bitcoin economy based in Ghana, Bitcoin Dua is currently raising funds to build a sports complex that will showcase how Bitcoin can be used in daily life. With logistical support from Fedi, including training and onboarding, the team traveled to Accra with a clear goal: help people move from hearing about Bitcoin to actually using it.

Through the Fedi experience, Bitcoin Dua:

  • Introduced players, students, and vendors to Bitcoin basics, helping dozens of people set up their first wallets and complete their first transactions.

  • Created a community custody experience by joining the Orange Club Africa federation community wallet, receiving their first sats.

  • Helped facilitate payments to game winners in Bitcoin, reinforcing its role as a valid reward and payment method in sports.

  • Onboarded local vendors, enabling live Bitcoin transactions at the event, and supported off-ramping to the Ghanaian cedi using tools like BitSpenda.

“Fedi’s support made this activation possible, enabling real education, real transactions, and real adoption,” said Mawufemor Kofi Folivi, founder of Bitcoin Dua. “This dedication to communities like ours is a significant win for Bitcoin awareness and usage in Ghana.”
